About the Role
We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer with expertise in electronics packaging to lead the design and development of advanced industrial systems. This role focuses on delivering reliable, manufacturable hardware solutions for demanding operating environments.
Working closely with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and reliability teams, you will drive mechanical design from concept through production while ensuring performance, thermal efficiency, and product reliability.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design and packaging architecture for complex electronic products and assemblies.
- Develop enclosure, chassis, and module-level designs for industrial applications.
- Drive thermal management solutions and environmental protection strategies.
- Design for shock, vibration, dust, moisture, and temperature extremes.
- Perform tolerance analysis, mechanical validation, and design reviews.
- Collaborate with electrical teams on PCB integration, connectors, cable routing, and EMI considerations.
- Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, quality, and cost.
- Support prototype builds, verification testing, and production release.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in mechanical design and electronics packaging.
- Experience developing industrial or embedded hardware products from concept through production.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar CAD tools.
- Experience designing enclosures, chassis, sheet metal, machined parts, and assemblies.
- Strong understanding of thermal management, DFM/DFA, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
- Knowledge of environmental qualification requirements and reliability testing.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial automation, energy, transportation, telecommunications, or ruggedized systems.
- Familiarity with FEA and thermal simulation tools.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC design principles and shielding techniques.
- Prior technical leadership or principal-level engineering experience.
